Year 5/6 Class Page

Miss Boyle, Mrs Gillam, Mr Norton and Miss Townsend

Welcome to Year 5 and 6!

Miss Boyle

I am the English lead across school and I am very passionate about mental health.  I absolutely love teaching Year 6 and I enjoy all subjects but if I was to choose one lesson to be my favourite to teach, it would be Maths.  My favourite time of the day is when we get to share our class book as I adore getting myself lost in a good story.  Outside of school, I enjoy baking, going on long walks, spending time with my family on the farm and also spending time with my pets (Tilly, cat, and Gus and Meg, dogs).

Mrs Gillam

As well as teaching year 5 and 6 I lead a number of subject areas across school, my favourite being History. I am extremely passionate about ensuring we deliver an inclusive History curriculum so that all of our school family are represented. Like Miss Boyle, I love sharing our class book and really look forward to that time of the day when we can sit, relax and immerse ourselves in a good story. Outside of school, I love running, reading and walking my dog Rosie.

Mr Norton

As well as teaching Year 5 and 6, I have other responsibilities across school including assessment and working closely with Mrs Gillam on the curriculum. I am also extremely passionate about inclusion and developing adaptive teaching techniques to ensure all my students thrive. I enjoy using drama to teach, particularly in English where we often become immersed within a text. Outside of school, I enjoy playing football at the weekends for the mighty Styal FC and spending time with my family.

Miss Townsend

As a year 5 teacher, I am passionate about teaching English, as I love sharing lots of different stories and ideas. However, my all time subject is Art, because I love being creative. I enjoy trying to make other subjects creative as well. Like Miss Boyle and Mrs Gillam, I enjoy sharing our class book, as we can get lost and relax in the story. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, watching films, spending time with my friends and family, and walking my dog, Dexter.

Below is our long term plan for this year detailing what we will be learning in each subject and our topic web for this term.
