World Book Day 2018 & Scarecrows
After the events of the snow, we were very excited about World Book Day today! We dressed for the occasion and also put our class scarecrows outside.
Last week we began our scarecrows, but had to leave them in school while we were busy enjoying the snow. Today we managed to put our scarecrows out and we are very proud of them. Are you?
To start off 2018, we decided to do a little experiment to see what would happen if we mixed milk with coke! The results were remarkable.
Welcome to Year 5!
We are delighted to welcome you and your child to Year 5!
This is going to be an exciting and busy term for all of us and hopefully your child will enjoy all the challenges and interesting activities that we have planned for them. Everyone has settled into Year 5 exceptionally well, and all are eager to continue with their learning and further develop in their time in Year 5. We have lots to look forward to this year, including having visitors from Greece, and also, later on in the year, a trip to the Stockport Air Raid Shelters.
The children will be developing their English skills by creating their own Greek Myths and using the events from Stockport during the war to inspire our historical recount. We will be extending our Maths skills by focusing on children’s reasoning and mental maths application.
Learning in Year 5 is much more independent; however we love to have the opportunity to work in groups to build upon our creativity and problem solving skills. We are constantly developing our team work skills (one of Greave's personal five capabilities) by working collaboratively during learning time.
We are very fortunate to have the continued support from Mrs Coulson, who will be working with us and assisting our learning aims throughout the year.
We believe that as teachers it’s important that we build children’s confidence and equip them with the skills and knowledge they need in order to lead a successful and happy life, whilst achieving the best they can.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in contact, as our door is always open.
