Welcome to Year 4
I am delighted to welcome you and your child to Year 4!
This is going to be an exciting and busy term for all of us and hopefully your child will enjoy all the challenges and interesting activities that I have planned for them. This term our work will have a Geography focus; we will be finding out about a range of different features of physical geography as well as comparing places around the world to our own area.
The children will be developing their literacy skills through having the opportunity to produce writing for a range of genres. Also, they will have the opportunity to develop their writing skills through immersive writing where we will use drama to bring our learning to life!
In addition, we will be extending our maths skills by developing children’s number sense through problem solving and understanding of written methods for the different operations.
This term we will be continuing our Greave Primary School tradition of developing our independence, team work and tenacity during our Year 4 London Trip in the Spring Term. This trip will focus on growing our knowledge of Geography and will give us the opportunity to see the sights of London. In the weeks leading up to the trip, we will learn all about London and conduct a comparative study between London and our local area.
We are very fortunate to have support from Mrs Coulson, Mr Hampson and Mrs Plant who will be working with us and assisting our learning aims throughout the year.
I believe that as a teacher, it’s important that I give the children the opportunity to become resilient and successful learners through providing a dynamic, challenging and engaging learning environment that promotes perseverance. My aim is to ensure that the children are able to achieve their full potential and leave the classroom with new knowledge and skills that can support them in living a safe and happy life.
